Sucker Punch

So during my preview session before watching Black Swan, I caught a glimpse of this new flick due to come out in theatres in March of this year. ill admit the first time i saw the preview for this i thought it looked like a ridiculous attempt at some cross between an action flick, comic book remake, and Asian call girls gone wild. buuuut....taking a closer, second look it doesn't look half  bad and I'm actually a bit interested in seeing it. the movie plot surrounds a young girl (Emily Browning) who is sent to an institution by her step father and as a coping method escapes to an alternate reality with fellow institution gal pals; Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish and Jena Malone, an interestingly dressed group very easy on the eyes. the flick includes guns, fighting, martial arts, short skirts, full lips, glitter and a quest to freedom. I remember t he leading lady in  this movie from her role in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events  alongside Jim Carrey and Im excited to see her all grown up. This movie definitely looks different, I wont knock it till i try it though, not just yet. ;)

BlackSwan

Absolutely amazing! First off let me say that i have never really been a big Natalie Portman fan, she always seemed to have a holy, soft, goody-goody act about her...but that is exactly what worked for her in this movie. playing a timid, weak ballerina with a twisted dark side was just perfect! she defiantly blew everyone away with this role. the film kept you guessing for the entire two hours. every time i thought i had the plot figured out, something would happen that would totally  turn it around and leave me saying..."huh?!" and i will not forget the two jaw-dropping sex scenes that take place, one lesbian, and one asexual. just amazing :). this movie dared to show things i have never seen in a movie before. I spent the entire time completely envious of her skinny, bony body and long beautiful hair. Natalie Portman was absolutely stunning and so was her performance. This is a definite must see with an ending that leaves it up to you to interpret, while still making the film easy to understand. I cant go into enough depth about just how masterful this movie was. it is a without a doubt must see in theatres, rent , download and own.
Just amazing.

The Last Exorcism

What appeared to be the last film in a long string of movies dedicated to the demonic fighting ritual superstitions hopefully will be. The film, staring a no-name cast (to maintain its "authenticity") definitely captured a good documentary style without the headache we all found within the Blair Which Project. However it was hard to decipher between what may have been a true experience or just another promiscuous mentally unstable girl running around in stained, damp toddler-appropriate white linens. No doubt it will have you jumping, possibly even shout..maybe, but nothing compares to the ever unexpected twist presenting itself in the final minutes of the film. Don't change the channel before missing a premature birth, large forest fires, graffiti and new found faith of a long time pastor. Everyone please let the Exorcism remain the best film of its time (and ours) and quit with the remakes.

Definitely a rental, maybe just borrow it from a friend.
